23 Psalm  Devotion – Sunday 22 March

Dear friends – I share with you a devotion for today – based on the 23rd Psalm which is the psalm for today – the 4th Sunday in Lent. I pray it gives you encouragement or perhaps fills a gap for those who were not able to join with their community for worship this morning in the usual way.
God is not bound by this pandemic and I look forward to finding more “unusual” ways to connect, care and worship in coming weeks. From our WA Bishop, Pastor Mike Fulwood.

Bishop John Henderson’s message to the LCA/NZ – Response to COVID-19

Christian Churches have been urged to pray about the Coronavirus outbreak and to take sensible precautions as the World Health Organisation declares a pandemic.

We should act responsibly. We need to be aware of the dangers that the virus presents and take any necessary precautions for the safety of our congregations.

We encourage you to pray for those who have been infected, for our Commonwealth and State governments as they address this crisis, and for the health and safety of our countries and your local communities. Good information can be accessed from the Western Australian Department of Health here.

Prayer for COVID19

Heavenly Father, bring healing and comfort for people around the world suffering from Coronavirus COVID-19. Speed their recovery and slow the spread of the virus. We thank you for the efforts of all those involved in treating, testing and caring for patients, and ask your protection over them as they go about their work. Give wisdom to governments around the world as they manage this outbreak. We ask for your peace when we are tempted to panic or become anxious about this disease. Help us to place our trust in you, knowing that our life is safely hidden in you and that you are the Lord of all creation. Enable us to show your love to others, sharing the hope we have in you, praying and caring for the sick and needy as best we can in the name of Christ. Amen.

ADVENT – Preparing for CHRISTMAS

LCA National Synod

What is Synod? Every three years delegates from districts meet at a General Convention of Synod to make decisions about the direction of the Lutheran Church of Australia. Synod is the highest decision-making body of our church. This year the 400-plus delegates who met in Sydney for the 19th General Convention of Synod (together with about 100 volunteers, exhibitors, visitors and staff) made some significant decisions on our behalf. This Popular Report gives you only a snapshot of those decisions; you should visit the Synod website or ask our Pastors or delegate Monica Bodenstaff if you’d like more information.  2018 General Convention Popular Report.
