Sunday 29 October – Reformation 500 – Worship & Longest Lutheran Lunch

This year marks the 500th anniversary of the publication of the 95 theses, nailed to the door of the Castle church in Wittenberg., Germany, regarded as the starting point of the Reformation.  A special joint Sunday 9.30am service to mark the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, to be followed by a festival with stalls, music and community lunch. Let’s share this special event with our friends, sharing God’s gift of grace as one Christian family. You are encouraged to wear your national dress, demonstrating that Christ is for all people of the world. 

8:30am musical interlude begins 

9:30 am Worship Service – Pastor Andre Meyer officiating, Guest preacher Bishop Michael Fulwood, Lutheran Church of Australia, WA District.

11:15-2:00pm a shared meal “The Longest Lutheran Lunch”

Tuesday 31 October – Reformation Day Ecumenical Celebration – 5:45pm

Faith alone, Grace Alone, Scripture Alone  

5.45pm join us for coffee, cake and fellowship followed by

7:00pm ecumenical worship service , led by Pastor Andre Meyer and Pastor Peter Hage, all welcome.

Free Exhibition – Martin Luther, the Reformation and its Results

Sun 8 – Sat 21 November

An exhibition outlining Martin Luther’s life and work, the important events in the history of the Reformation, and its effects on society and Christianity. Courtesy of the German Consul – this quality display is a must see.

SENT “Relational Evangelism” Conference

Brisbane on 6-7 Oct and Hahndorf on 13-14 Oct 

For those who have a heart for Evangelism – a contingent from St Johns will attend with sponsorship from the WA District.

2016 Highlights

Christmas Tree Festival

The Christmas Tree Festival was a bonanza of festivities in 2016, featuring a nativity for photo opportunities, Community Carol singing and Christmas Music Events, as well as a Wine and Cheese Tasting and Craft sessioins, it really was fun for all the family. Along with many of the trees from the inaugral display in 2015 this year there were a number of new trees, including a “Shoe Tree” and the “AA” tree.

Dedication of the Courtyard Mural

Sunday 18 December at 9.45am Pastor Greg dedicated the new mural which features images from our beautiful stained glass windows, as well as native birds, animals and plants. The artist, Annette Petersen, and her family were present as she spoke about her inspiration from God to create the mural. Annette also painted the Lutheran Rose, which was paid for by funds raised by WEGS – the Wednesday Evening Group. Annette has created a about the mural on her page.

Christmas at St Johns

The 2015 Christmas season featured a Christmas Tree Display, Cinderella pantomime and a Star Wars themed Nativity play, as well as services in German, English, Norwegian and Chinese.

Opening of St Johns Court

St Johns Court was opened on 1st March 2015. The new facility provides expanded space for St Johns congregation and the WA District office,  including:

  • Hall for gatherings and worship
  • Reception and lounge area
  • Pastor’s offices and counselling space
  • Children’s church rooms
  • Youth zone
  • Kitchen

The building also features showers, change rooms and underground parking.
